If Only

The other night on my way home from work I heard ‘Last Christmas’ by WHAM!, which is one of my favorite holiday songs. It instantly put me in a good mood and I continued to sign it when I got home. (Even though I only know 2 lines of the chorus).

John comes in the door singing PANTERA very loud an obnoxious. Granted the song probably sounded that way, but I was looking for a more peaceful tune like the one from WHAM!.

Our conversation went as follows:

“BABE! STOP SINGING THAT AWFUL SONG!’ (Yes, I had to yell because he was so loud).

“DA DUMMMMMM DA ZAPADULA DUMMMMM DA BOWWWW WOWWWWW”

“BABE! WE NEED TO BE SINGING CHRISTMAS SONGS RIGHT NOW!”

DOOOOOBEEEEEEEE SHOOOOOO DA DUMMMMM ZAPADULA

“BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABE!”

“RUDOLPH THE RED NOSE RAIN DEER…HAD A VERY SHINEY NOSE!”

“NO!! Not that song! The song from WHAM!”

“AND IF YOU EVER SAW IT…YOU WOULD EVEN SAY IT GLOWS.”

“BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABE!”

“Well I don’t know that song, why don’t you sing it to me?”

“No.” (By this point I was already too ticked off)

“Well at least give me the title.”

“Last Christmas.”

“LAST CHRISTMAS I GAVE YOU MY HEART...”

He totally knew it! I told him that was one of my faves and that he needed to download it for me. Then he tells me that he thought he already did last year. Whatever…I couldn’t remember.

So then he goes into our office to order me some gifts, (as I told him he needed to order them by the 30th. He is such a planner!) Two minutes later I hear the sweet sounds of WHAM! drifting out of the office along with John singing and dancing! I know deep in my heart that if John had been born 15 years earlier, was British, and had the chance to be a member of WHAM!, that they would still be touring as a threesome and John would be known as Johnny ‘Hot Pants’ Charles.

That's my all time favorite Christmas song too! Nothing beats George Michael (pre bathroom incident). Are we children of the 80s or what?

You will have to play that song for us at Xmas. I will probably recognize it, but I am drawing a blank right now.

On question: Do you really think John is so cool he would wear a leather jacket with no shirt underneath?

I listened to the Pantera song--well 5 seconds of it, at least. Give me Wham any day!
